Orientation and Lottery Application
Prospective families of Boreal Sun Charter School are guided to complete the following enrollment process:
1. The first step in the lottery process is to visit Boreal Sun and attend an orientation. During the orientation, parent(s) or guardian(s) will learn about the school's philosophy, how Boreal Sun operates, the history of the school, and view our classrooms. After attending an orientation, a parent or guardian fills out an online lottery application.
Attending an orientation is required for your application to be approved. Families will be asked to sign a verification form to show they attended an orientation. Orientation days are designed as "open house" style. You may come anytime between the times listed below; you may stay as long or brief as you'd like.
The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Orientation Dates for the 2025-2026 school year:
Monday, February 10, 2025: 9:15am-12:15pm & 1:15-2:45pm Kindergarten class observation is offered 9:15am-12:15pm only on this day. Families may still attend in the afternoon to see alternate classrooms.
Thursday, March 6, 2025: 9:15am-12:15pm
Monday, April 7, 2025: 6-7:30pm
2. Once completed, the lottery application will be reviewed to ensure all information (orientation verification form completed, contact information, etc.) is complete. Applications are completed online through the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District’s Online Lottery Application Portal via the Student Information Systems Centralized Application Portal (CAP). General information about the FNSBSD online lottery process can be found at https://www.k12northstar.org/lottery.
3. On April 16th, you can log in to the lottery program to check your child’s place on the waitlist. Boreal Sun will offer available spots beginning Wednesday, April 16th. Parents have 48 hours from Boreal Sun's contact to accept the spot.
Please do not call us to inquire about your placement in the lottery. We will call/email you to offer a placement.
The application deadline is April 10, 2025.
If you missed the deadline for the 2025-2026 school year lottery, you add your child to the waitlist in the lottery system starting May .
